Swim team 2013

My favorite part of the summer has to be watching my kids swim!

Merrick worked very hard on his dive this year. He did really well on freestyle and placed 11th overall in the boys 8 and under. His favorite the butterfly was really good too, unfortunaly he was disqulified at champs so he wasn't able to place in the fly (but he would have if he wasn't DQ'd)

Aubree had the most beatiful dives I've seen! She really worked on getting those right. Her freestyle and butterfly were really great. One of the coaches commented on how good my kids were at the butterfly & how that was their good stroke! She was on a relay team and they placed 2nd at champs this year in the medley where Aubree swam the fly

here is the whole team! What a great bunch of kids and wonderful coaches. We had 5 coaches this year (and even though I'm probably old enough to be their mothers) they do a fantastic job with these kids, and the kids learn so much every year. This was the 2nd year with these same coaches and I really hope they come back until my kids are coaching along side them

Merrick does have a favorite coach! Although Nathan coaches the older kids, Merrick thinks he walks on water! Nathan was the one who taught Merrick the butterfly when he was 5 and they've been "best friends" ever since. He was so excited at the beginning of summer because he got to see his friend again!

and this.... is a little glimpse of what swim champs look like.( a sea of tents) The last meet of the summer where all the teams compete against each other. This year we got to the pool at 7am. staked out our spot for the day, had a potluck bbq lunch, watched lots of races & finally left around 4:30. Luckily we were only 15 minutes from home, so there was no long drive to book end the event!

I love to watch my kids swim and improve every year! They are both such great swimmers
